Our team actively involves school students in research. Every year 11 school students from Saint Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Kotlas and Priozersk do internships in our group. All members of our team, from bachelor’s students to postdocs, work with them. This approach not only opens the way to science for school students but also helps create new research teams able to solve problems of different levels. Moreover, team members gain valuable mentoring experience, which builds the skills needed to become successful leaders.
School projects supervised by members of our group took part in international conferences and won a number of scientific awards. For example, the school project «Optimizing the recognition of PUF labels», supervised by Elena Petrova, won a first-degree diploma at the international conference «Sakharov Readings 2024»; the project «Processing and analysis of data from experiments on detecting protein compounds based on Raman scattering», supervised by Artem Stumpf, won a second-degree diploma; the project «Increasing the sensitivity of plasmonic nanoparticle resonances by choosing their material», supervised by Martin Sandomirskii, received a participant’s diploma; and the project «Laser-induced fabrication of functional nanophotonic elements and study of their properties», supervised by Van Gulinyan, received a participant’s diploma of the XIII Congress of Young Scientists at ITMO.
