Congratulations to our colleagues on the publication of the paper «MicroRNA-200a as a therapeutic agent for acute and chronic liver pathologies and regeneration»! The authors include our researchers Lidia Mikhailova, Konstantin Arabuli and Mikhail Zyuzin. The work was carried out in close collaboration with colleagues from the Privolzhsky Research Medical University (Nizhny Novgorod), Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Moscow), the Volga District Medical Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia (Nizhny Novgorod) and the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary.
The researchers developed an effective approach based on nanoparticles loaded with microRNA-200a for treating acute and chronic liver diseases. In experiments on rats, the new therapy prevented liver damage and markedly reduced the collagen content in the organ’s tissues, clearly improving its condition. This opens up prospects for new therapies for fibrosis and cirrhosis.
